This lego was a birthday gift for my grandson. He loved building R2D2, he has been a Legos kid for many years. Loves the challenge, can almost build without the instructions, but I think it’s impossible
.From the pictures I thought it was larger than it actually is. However, there are many pieces and this build, is fun because it features movable parts on the build. I was surprised & my grandson loved it. One of his favorite characters in Star Wars. Great job at affordable price.

I recently picked up the LEGO Star Wars R2-D2 Building Toy Set (75379), and I couldn’t be more thrilled with the experience from start to finish! As both a lifelong LEGO builder and a huge Star Wars fan, this set hit all the right notes.
The build itself is incredibly satisfying — detailed enough to challenge and engage builders aged 10 and up, but not so complicated that it becomes frustrating. The design of R2-D2 is spot-on, capturing the droid’s iconic look with amazing accuracy and clever engineering. The rotating head, retractable leg, and other interactive features make it perfect for both display and light play.
One of the biggest highlights for collectors is the exclusive 25th Anniversary Darth Malak minifigure. It’s a fantastic addition that adds serious value to the set, especially for fans of Knights of the Old Republic. LEGO absolutely nailed the details on this minifig — it’s a showstopper.
The packaging is sleek, and the instructions are easy to follow. Whether you’re buying this as a gift or adding it to your own collection, it’s a total win. This is more than just a toy — it’s a celebration of 25 years of LEGO Star Wars magic. Highly recommend!

Me boy enjoyed building this lego set and when it was completed it’s so cute as a display.

We have a give away channel called What’s In The F’ing Box on YouTube and TikTok and the audience went nuts for this. Such a cool set.

First off the Minifigure is great for any long term star wars fan. Super fun build experience with lots of small details. While yes it’s good for play it really shines in its displayablity.

I bought this having already bought and built 75308. This set is about half the price of that set and about half the size, but I wouldn’t necessarily say it’s inferior. It has about half the bricks of the previous set and isn’t as detailed due to its size, but for a much lower price point, that is to be expected. I like the smaller size and I think the details it does have looks good on it. The only thing I don’t really care for is the accessories. The larger build allowed for the different Artoo arms to fold up into the body. The accessories here involve you taking off the panel and replacing it with the accessory. It’s fine, but you run the risk of either losing the panel or losing the accessory. The middle leg also doesn’t go up into the body, it attaches to the bottom. Probably harder to lose, though.
This set doesn’t have the black box of the other adult oriented sets, but I would say this set is probably more adult friendly than kid friendly. I don’t have any kids, though. It was easier to put together, even with the technics skeleton. The skeleton of the bigger set is way more intricate, so this might be a little more kid friendly.
I think regardless of whether or not you have the bigger set, this is a good set to get. Also, it comes with a Darth Malak minifigure (from Knights of the Old Republic) and an R2D2…which if you build and collect Lego Star Wars sets, you probably have a lot of by now. I’d love to see them make a similar set, but with Chopper.

So I like the model I have two bones to pick:
1. The head needs more parts and it would look better.
2. The accessories are terrible looking so just leave them off.
Otherwise it’s a nice R2 model and a fun build.

The best price I could find anywhere for a brand new Lego set. Easy build and it looks fantastic with my Star Wars Lego collection

I love it. It took a bit to but it together but I had fun every step of the way. I love putting together Lego sets. The price was really great and the quality made it worth every penny. I had so much fun building it and the design is identical to the real R2D2. It’s really a building set for all ages.

Fun build I did with my kid over a couple days. End product looks good amd is larger than expected. Good value for a 1k piece kit too.

This lego set was a huge hit with my nephew. He spent the entire evening building it and absolutely loved it. Legos are always great quality and fun to build. I would highly recommend this if you have a Star Wars fan in the family.

Who doesn’t love legos! We purchased this R2D2 Lego set for our son-in-law who was being deployed and who is a huge Star Wars fan. It literally only took him half a day to complete si it was easy for him to finish it.. It’s very durable and all of the pieces were in the box. The functionally is great and the detail is excellent. Looks like the real one.

Pros:
1. At $100 this set is a pretty good deal, with 1050 pieces, it gives you a few hours to construct one of the more fun LEGO builds I’ve done in a while.
2. The R2-D2 is a nice size, not too small but also not oversized. This means you can display it wherever you’d like. For parents looking to buy for kids, THIS IS NOT A PLAY SET! While in some ways it could be used as one, it’s a rather fragile set and comes with a display plaque as it’s intended to be put on a shelf or table for display.
3. The end build is very satisfying, with some accessories to customize your R2 and a rotating head to pose it in any way you’d like.
4. The bonus minifigure Darth Malak is very nice touch, as Old Republic characters are rare for Lego to make, and is a good addition to anyone’s collection. Keep an eye out for any other Star Wars sets this year with special minifigures!
Cons:
1. At $100 there are a substantial amount of stickers, which can be annoying to put on bricks if your hands aren’t that steady.
Overall:
At $100 this is a really solid set and I recommend this one far more over the UCS R2-D2 which is over $100 more. It’s a great display piece and a fun build to put together. The Darth Malak minifigure just makes this set even more appealing.

Great Lego set for the price. I can’t bring myself to buy those $200-500 sets so I stick with these cheaper smaller ones. This one was honestly a bit bigger than I expected. Took me about two days to finish and I absolutely love it. Already looking for more!

I chose this version over the larger, more expensive, model because it is on the same scale and pairs well with the C-3PO. It was a fun build and a nice little display of “the most beloved droids in the galaxy.” The big downside of this model is the two doors that hold the data port and the “zapper” are not really doors. The tile piece must be removed so the arm sub-assembly can be hooked on. I knew before ordering, but it is still a minor annoyance.

My son was thrilled with this lego set. He said it was the prefect size for display and to play with. It looks nice on his beside table. It took him a few hours to build it and he was happily showing me the progress along the way. He was impressed with the extra plaque and mini figure it comes with, as well.
